HUS Scholarships


SINGAPORE POLICE FORCE (OVERSEAS) SCHOLARSHIP

The SPF Overseas Scholarship is a prestigious scholarship awarded by the Public Service Commission. It is awarded to 'A' level holders who have shown outstanding academic performance and leadership qualities, and are keen to serve in the Singapore Police Force.

Eligibility
Singapore Citizens or Permanent Residents with the intention of taking up citizenship
Strong leadership qualities and interest in a career in the SPF
Good co-curricular activities (CCA) record

GCE ‘A’ levels (with minimum 11 academic units), International Baccalaureate (IB), Polytechnic Diploma (with Merit) or equivalent

Candidates offering GCE 'A' Levels
For Science Stream - Attempted 4 GCE 'A' level subjects & 2 'S' papers
For Arts Stream - Attempted 3 GCE 'A' level subjects & 1 GCE 'AO' level subject & 1 'S' paper or 3 GCE 'A' level subjects & 2 'S' papers
Candidates who do not meet academic criteria would be considered for scholarships if they have outstanding leadership qualities and CCA records
Candidates should excel in Officer Cadet School (OCS)

Value of Awards
Tuition fees and other approved charges
Maintenance and other allowances e.g. book, clothing, computer
Return economy class airfare to attend annual vacation attachment programme
Sponsorship for exchange programmes and Masters degree (if requirements are met)
Monthly salary for the duration of their studies

Countries and Courses of Study
Most countries and disciplines (except medicine, dentistry and architecture)

*Applicants intending to pursue a degree in Law will not be called to the Bar while serving in the SPF


Condition of Award
Scholars would be bonded for 6 years (English speaking countries) or 5 years (non English speaking countries) starting from the day they assume duty after completing their course of study.

Career Development
Senior Police Officers would be rotated for the Initial, Command and Staff postings in the first 6 years of their career.

Scholars could be placed on the PSC's Management Associates Programme where they could be posted outside the Police Force for exposure.


SINGAPORE GOVERNMENT SCHOLARSHIP (SGS)

The Scholarship is awarded to promising students to pursue undergraduate studies in overseas universities. Upon graduation, they will pursue a career as Senior Officers in the uniformed services - Singapore Police Force, Singapore Civil Defence Force, Singapore Prison Service or Central Narcotics Bureau.

Eligibility
Singapore citizens or Permanent Resident with the intention of taking up citizenship
Good performance in National Service
Good CCA record
GCE 'A' level* (attempted at least 11 academic units), Polytechnic Diploma with Merit or equivalent e.g. International Baccalaureate (IB)

Candidates offering GCE 'A' Level

LOCAL MERIT SCHOLARSHIP (LMS)

The Local Merit Scholarship (LMS) is awarded to promising students to pursue undergraduate studies in local universities. Upon graduation, they will pursue a career as Senior Officers in the uniformed services - Singapore Police Force, Singapore Civil Defence Force, Singapore Prison Service or Central Narcotics Bureau.

Eligibility
Singapore citizens or Permanent Residents who intend to take up citizenship
Good performance in National Service
Good CCA record
Good GCE 'A' levels results, (attempted at least 10 academic units), Polytechnic Diploma with Merit or equivalent e.g. International Baccalaureate (IB)

Value of Awards
Tuition fees will be fully paid
Scholarship allowance
Hostel allowance
Sponsorship for Overseas Student Exchange Program (if selected by the university) - Lump sum allowance comprising of airfare and maintenance allowance Or
Sponsorship for Summer Program - Lump sum allowance comprising of airfare and maintenance allowance

Courses of Study
Most disciplines except medicine, dentistry and architecture. Applicants intending to pursue a degree in Law will not be called to the Bar while serving in the Home Team the Home Team.

Condition of Award
Scholars would be bonded for 4 years starting from the day they assume duty.
